How long should we allocate for students to complete their carving?
Depending on the program you choose, it takes 60, 90 or 120 minutes to finish a sculpture.
When we visit your school for In Class Field Trip class time is always 120 minutes. If you choose to have a Teacher-led or Zoom workshop class times vary based on your desired program. Review our Programs and pricing page.
What materials are included for students?
Everything your students will need to complete their carving will be included in your order: hand-cut soapstone shape, kid-safe carving file, two grades of sandpaper, polishing wax for a quality finish, and buffing cloth.
Are the carving tools kid-safe?
Can we expect dust during the carving process?
While stone carving produces dust we have specifically developed a carving process using water to eliminate dry stone dust. Students are encouraged to keep their stone shapes wet throughout the class.
Can we have an in-class instructor?
Yes, this option is currently available if your school is located in the Greater Vancouver area of BC, Canada. Please refer to the In-Class Field Trip option on the Programs and pricing page.
How do we place our order?
How are the materials packaged and shipped?
If you book a teacher-led or Zoom class all supplies will be carefully packed and shipped to your school. When you book an In Class Field Trip workshop our instructor will bring all supplies on the day of the class.
