I purchased this as a gift for my daughter. I know she will enjoy this well put together kit.

Very neat - great quality and good fun

10/10 recommend this as a craft. It is expensive though. So I bought the "double kit" assuming that meant it was for two people but it only comes with one file, so it's two animals for one person to do. That was annoying to realize, but we went to Lowes and bought a pack of tiny files which allowed us to work in better details anyway which in hindsight is something I would definitely recommend. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. It comes with sandpaper and some wax to use at the end too. Sadly my beautiful elephant chipped significantly within hours after finishing it because I wasn't careful enough in-transit. It says on the box it's a 90min craft but we easily spent 6-8 hrs on it. I think that was because we'd bought the smaller files though to be able to carve more details. Thanks for introducing us soapstone!

Is steenbeeldhouwen safe?

Yes, the stone we use is certified free from harmful elements like asbestos and is primarily talk or calcite. We encourage the use of water during beeldhouwen and sanding stages to avoid any airborne dust.

Welke soorten steen worden gebruikt?

We use natural occurring stone in our products. Both Speksteen and Albast. Speksteen is a colourful and soft mainly talc based stone that is certified safe for beeldhouwen. Albast is a beautiful semi-translucent calcite based stone slightly harder than speksteen.

Hoe kunt u steen bewerken zonder stof te maken?

The more frequent you wet the stone and tools when beeldhouwen, the less dry stone dust you create. We developed this beeldhouwen process to use water and be done easily at home.

Heb ik hiervoor ervaring nodig?

We invented this starter steenbeeldhouwen projects that can be very successful without any beeldhouwen experience!

Hoe kan ik beter worden in steenbeeldhouwen?

My first recommendation is to join our free beeldhouwen webinars. It is a great place to learn more and ask questions. You should also try more complicated projects and try different stones. I have carved many types of stone over my life as a sculptor.

Welke afwerkingsmogelijkheden zijn er?

We suggest gently heating the stone and using a paraffin wax, but you can also use mineral oil or Tung oil to enhance the colours. The oils will fade over time, whereas the wax will last. One other option for a more durable finish is to spray the finished piece with a clear lacquer.
