Your Choices

Choose from a variety of animal shapes, ranging from beginner to advanced. Animals are recommended for specific grade levels based on complexity.

For In-Class Field Trip or Zoom-led workshops, select one animal per classroom, or choose from these pairs: Bear & Wolf, Wolf & Rabbit, Orca & Seal, or Orca & Beluga. Each student will carve one shape during the workshop.

Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to use tools to carve a small pre-cut soapstone piece. They will practice hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills while learning basic carving techniques.
Students will be introduced to the difference between 2D and 3D art while exploring form, texture, and shape.
Through this project, students explore rocks and minerals, animal symbolism, environmental awareness, and cultural connections.
