Ancient Civilizations

Starting from a small blank stone piece, students carve and engrave their own artifact inspired by Ancient Egypt, Rome, or Greece. Four design templates per culture are provided, with options to customize or create original designs. This fun and creative project connects students to history trough hands-on exploration.

Your Choices

Please select up to four design options for your students to choose from. Limiting the options helps streamline instruction and allows our instructor to spend more one-on-one time with each student.

Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to use tools to carve a small sculpture out of a blank stone piece.
They will practice hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills while learning
basic carving techniques.
Students will be introduced to the difference between 2D and 3D art while
exploring form, texture, and shape.
Through this project, students explore rocks and minerals, history,
environmental awareness, and cultural connections.
